Just another day

Posted by Jess on Jan 9, 2009 in Uncategorized

Today was just another day at work. Lots of work to still be done so I am just doing what I can do get as much as I can done before I leave. I hate leaving people stranded and I feel like that is what I am doing.

Onto better things…tomorrow is Aiden’s 2nd birthday and I spent part of this evening looking for a good pirate costume for myself but didn’t find anything good enough to purchase. Now I have to go through my own clothes and figure out what is pirate costumish…that should be fun.

Tomorrow night we are going to decorate the in-laws house (our house is too small for all the people and activities) and then we are up early Saturday to greet everyone at the door for the BIG parrrrrrty :)

It is going to be so much fun – I can’t wait.

16 days left

Posted by Jess on Jan 8, 2009 in Jess's Rants

Today was a little better which I hope is a sign of times to come. Don’t want to spend the next 16 days miserable and bring everyone else down. I like everyone too much for that.

I just need to ride the wave and not get down on myself or anyone else.

Now lets hope I can take my own advice :)

Sad day

Posted by Jess on Jan 7, 2009 in Uncategorized

I realized today that I only have 17 more days at my current job. Although to some I am sure that would be a wonderful thing, to me it makes me sad. I adore the people I work with and actually like my job. I guess that is the hardest part of this lay off. I wish that I could stay on but with the economy the way it is who knows when I will get another job. Since we don’t know we are going to have to take Aiden out of the day care that we love as well. It makes Steve and I both very upset but it is so expensive we can’t afford it while I’m not working plus it doesn’t make any sense to leave him in while I am home.

No matter what happens at least we all have each other and we have wonderful families whom help us whenever possible and would do anything for us.

Oh me, Oh my, I got laid off again.

Posted by Jess on Jan 6, 2009 in Jess's Rants

So those of you who don’t know yet…I got laid off again. As of January 30th I will be unemployed yet again.

I have been looking for jobs and applying to as many as seem interesting. Luckily there seem to be a large amount of Marketing jobs. Only problem…lots of people are looking for work right now. Hopefully someone will see how amazingly wonderful I am and scoop me up quickly.

Other things going on in our lives…Aiden is wonderful and almost 2. We are having his party on Saturday with a pirate theme and he loves pirates right now. He also loves soccer but figured that might be a bit much for a party…pirate soccer party :)

Although I have said it before I am going to try really hard to blog as much as possible. It is nice to be able to vent to everyone that reads the blog.

I hope everyone is doing well, had a wonderful holiday and had an awesome new year!

Ears, heads and backs oh my

Posted by Jess on Sep 10, 2008 in Uncategorized

Aiden now has tubes in his ears. I have developed migraines again and my back is a mess. Its been a long few months but we are all doing great. We still love being parents and cherish ever moment we get to spend with Aiden. He is becoming a silly little boy that still loves the Backyardigans and his puppy. Solo gets a great deal of abuse from Aiden but I think they both love it. Aiden especially likes to sit on Solo’s back and say “horseee” and jump up and down like he is riding him. It is a pretty funny site and hard not to laugh out loud. Aiden is constantly doing things that we should be scolding him for but instead find ourselves laughing at or taking pictures of to document for when he gets older. Like when he spilled water on the floor, saw Solo licking it up off the floor so he started licking it off the floor. I realize if this is read by the wrong person they may call DCFS but lets hope that doens’t happen :) Instead of telling him to stop, I started laughing and ran and got the camera to video tape it. I know, you all want to see the video :) Once we find our cable to upload the photo’s I will add a link to this post.

A love note from his grandmother

Posted by Jess on May 30, 2008 in Baby

Just had to share this email from my mother to Aiden:

These notes are for you Aiden. Every time I am with you, I am so delighted. You are an amazing little guy. The animals in the book were so familiar to you. The cow was your favorite. It got your deep voice. You made me suck on a pacifier as you were sucking on another. You kept pushing it in my mouth ’till I finally gave in and did it.

It was your game of the day. The Disney pop up book was mutilated once again. The pop up figures are so inviting. Tearing them is a great satisfaction. You tore off Tarzan. I put him aside to glue later on. You got the piece back from me, put it on the page and clapped for yourself. You were so happy that you could piece him together again. I was sitting at the crib intending to reach for some old pacifiers that were along the wall from a few weeks ago. Before I even reached for them,

You anticipated what I would do , crawled under the crib and retrieved them. Connecting sequential events is a new trick and tons of fun to watch. The letters and numbers are more fascinating to you in the tub. Your game of surprise splash continues. Like a frog you crouch and suddenly stand and splash. We laugh together.

Run and chase also creates hysterics. You are going in and out of rooms ’till you decide to be caught. Sitting on grown up chairs has its attraction. Drinks and food seem

To taste better from a grown up chair. “uh, oh” and bubbles were clearly verbalized. “uh, oh” is useful for lots of situations that don’t go as planned…..like spilling my cup of water. You’ve got the tone and application down pat. Mommy and Daddy know all these things about you, but I am so thrilled to be sharing them with you.

Recording them here is my way of savoring the sweet moments.

Love,

Safta

Lots of 1st for our Family

Posted by Jess on Dec 29, 2007 in Uncategorized

Aiden is almost 1. His b-day is on the 9th of January so it is coming up fast. I can’t believe it. It really has been a year of 1st’s for all of us.

Our 1st baby
My 1st time getting laid off
Steve’s 1st time working somewhere that had layoff’s
My 1st time wondering if I wanted to work or be a full time mom
Steve’s 1st time wondering if I was completely insane (I think it was the 1st time)
My 1st time working for a big company
Steve’s 1st time being jealous of my company because of the extras offered.
Aiden’s 1st smile (happened within 2 hours of him getting ripped from my tummy. Sorry that was a little graphic but true. The nurses all commented on how almost immediately he was smiling)
Aiden’s 1st time cutting a tooth (took a long time but now he has like 10)
Aiden’s 1st time rolling over (did it early and then seemed to forget for a few months)
Aiden’s 1st Halloween (he went to bed at 6:30)
Aiden’s 1st Christmas (which was awesome)
Aiden’s 1st Step (now he is walking all over the place. He falls a lot still but he is still a walking fool)
Aiden’s 1st time meeting my best friend Anna (we are going to go see her in a few hours – I am so excited. I haven’t seen her since last year around this time)
Aiden’s 1st word (even though I spent 24 hours a day with him at the time, he said dada 1st)

There are so many other 1st for all of us this year. Learning how to live with a baby and lack of sleep was hard at 1st but we got through it and now we have an amazing little family that I love.

With Aiden almost turning 1 it has made me think about how amazing being a wife and a mother truly is. When you are a wife your relationship with your husband is different then after you have a baby. I think that Steve and my relationship has gotten so much stronger. I love hearing him over the monitor singing “American Pie” to Aiden when he just wont go to sleep. I love seeing the look on Steve’s face when he sees Aiden do something that he hasn’t done before or that is so cute we both look at each other and smile knowing that we have an amazing little one, an amazing marriage and an amazing family.

Wow, sorry I didn’t realize this was going to turn out so sappy. I feel like I should tell a dirty joke now or something.

I would love to her about any 1st you have experienced this year. Feel free to share.

No more Adult Songs for me

Posted by Jess on Dec 29, 2007 in Uncategorized

I was laying in bed last night trying to fall asleep, it usually takes me an hour or so, and all the sudden I realized that I was singing a song from the Backyardigan’s show over and over again in my head. At that point I tried to remember the words to any “adult” song and all that came to mind was more Backyardigan’s songs…that’s just wrong.

What’s up

Posted by Jess on Dec 14, 2007 in Uncategorized

Since I have 1 reader I guess I will keep on blogging :)

Just kidding I know there are more of you too bad you just don’t comment. I know you are all way too shy to say anything to a whole bunch of people that you don’t know. Its ok…they wont bite.

What’s up with the Dembo’s? Well today I called in sick to work. Had a migraine this morning and could not make it go away. I slept until 12:30 which I haven’t done in a very, very long time. I am feeling better but think I might have a sinus infection…Yuck. taking some over the counter stuff to see if that will help kick it.

Aiden is doing great. He had a great day at daycare today. They said he is back to his old self again. I yelled at them for saying it cause that means that he will be sick again in a few days. Every time Aiden seems to be back to himself, he gets sick and miserable. Hopefully it wont happen this time. I think I saw another tooth when he was laughing earlier so that might make him a little unhappy too. He is such a little cutiepie though. I can’t help but kiss and hug him all the time. He started doing some really cute affectionate things lately too. For example…when he likes someone he puts his forehead to the other persons and smiles. It is so cute. He also gives kisses but not sure how many people he does that to other then me. And I think most of the time is is because he is trying to bite my nose.

Since we are going to celebrate both Chaunaka and Christmas with Aiden we have Christmas decorations and Chaunaka decorations all over. We have been lighting the Chaunaka candles every night. Steve was out of town and I lite them too however I didn’t know the prayer and the only prayer I know is the one over the wine so I said that one. Steve assured me that was just fine.

Hope everyone is doing well and I get more comments :)

Blogging Again

Posted by Jess on Nov 29, 2007 in Uncategorized

I’M BACK……It has been over 2 months since my last blog and I promise that will not happen again. I plan on keeping it up at least once a week even if all I say is “Hi Everybody”.

What’s new with Aiden – another tooth (he has 4 now), another double ear infection, just finished his thrush meds, getting bigger but still a little peanut. That about sums it up.

What’s new with Steve – well his blog www.teach42.com was just listed as one of the top 5 blogs by Tech Learning magazine for teachers and administrators. You can see the article at www.techlearning.com/story/showArticle.php?articleID=196604794, his birthday is December 5th and he is very excited to be taking a bunch of time off around the holiday’s.

What’s new with me – Loving my job and the people I work with. Still learning which is a little upsetting to me. Things don’t click as fast as they used to before Aiden. Guess I just have too much on my mind now. Everyone says I am doing great though so maybe it is just my own feelings of inadiaquicy that I am burdened by. I’m learing about the perks of working for a large company everyday. We had a book fair yesterday were Barnes & Noble brought in a bunch of books and we could purchase at our convenience throughout the day if we wanted. We also get special discounts with some of our premium providers which is cool too. I have joined the event committee and also am co-leading a group on social networking/marketing and how we can use it in our field of business. It is a great opportunity and I can’t wait to present all our ideas for blogs and social marketing things we have gathered.

A couple weird things about working for a large company. When you have a secret santa party…71 people can participate instead of the 20 I am used to with a smaller company. You don’t know everyone’s names and are not introduced to everyone…nor will you ever be. You might see people everyday but never work with them. This stuff is all new to me. I am used to knowing almost everyone I work with and having parties with everyone and having fun with everyone. I know maybe 1/4 of the people that work at this building and that is being very generous. 900 poeple work here…that is insane to me. The very cool thing about my department is that we are a smaller family unit within a bigger company. That helps with the shock of coming to a company this size. I can definatly see why some people prefer big and some prefer small. Both have a very different feel….I’m not sure which I prefer yet. I will have to keep you updated on that.

I hope everyone is doing well and keep in touch. We are super busy these days but I would love to hear from anyone that is reading.
