Aiden is almost 1. His b-day is on the 9th of January so it is coming up fast. I can’t believe it. It really has been a year of 1st’s for all of us.

Aiden’s 1st smile (happened within 2 hours of him getting ripped from my tummy. Sorry that was a little graphic but true. The nurses all commented on how almost immediately he was smiling)
Aiden’s 1st time cutting a tooth (took a long time but now he has like 10)
Aiden’s 1st time rolling over (did it early and then seemed to forget for a few months)
Aiden’s 1st Halloween (he went to bed at 6:30)
Aiden’s 1st Christmas (which was awesome)
Aiden’s 1st Step (now he is walking all over the place. He falls a lot still but he is still a walking fool)
Aiden’s 1st time meeting my best friend Anna (we are going to go see her in a few hours - I am so excited. I haven’t seen her since last year around this time)
Aiden’s 1st word (even though I spent 24 hours a day with him at the time, he said dada 1st)

There are so many other 1st for all of us this year. Learning how to live with a baby and lack of sleep was hard at 1st but we got through it and now we have an amazing little family that I love.

With Aiden almost turning 1 it has made me think about how amazing being a wife and a mother truly is. When you are a wife your relationship with your husband is different then after you have a baby. I think that Steve and my relationship has gotten so much stronger. I love hearing him over the monitor singing “American Pie” to Aiden when he just wont go to sleep. I love seeing the look on Steve’s face when he sees Aiden do something that he hasn’t done before or that is so cute we both look at each other and smile knowing that we have an amazing little one, an amazing marriage and an amazing family.

Wow, sorry I didn’t realize this was going to turn out so sappy. I feel like I should tell a dirty joke now or something.

I was laying in bed last night trying to fall asleep, it usually takes me an hour or so, and all the sudden I realized that I was singing a song from the Backyardigan’s show over and over again in my head. At that point I tried to remember the words to any “adult” song and all that came to mind was more Backyardigan’s songs…that’s just wrong.

Since I have 1 reader I guess I will keep on blogging

Just kidding I know there are more of you too bad you just don’t comment. I know you are all way too shy to say anything to a whole bunch of people that you don’t know. Its ok…they wont bite.

What’s up with the Dembo’s? Well today I called in sick to work. Had a migraine this morning and could not make it go away. I slept until 12:30 which I haven’t done in a very, very long time. I am feeling better but think I might have a sinus infection…Yuck. taking some over the counter stuff to see if that will help kick it.

Aiden is doing great. He had a great day at daycare today. They said he is back to his old self again. I yelled at them for saying it cause that means that he will be sick again in a few days. Every time Aiden seems to be back to himself, he gets sick and miserable. Hopefully it wont happen this time. I think I saw another tooth when he was laughing earlier so that might make him a little unhappy too. He is such a little cutiepie though. I can’t help but kiss and hug him all the time. He started doing some really cute affectionate things lately too. For example…when he likes someone he puts his forehead to the other persons and smiles. It is so cute. He also gives kisses but not sure how many people he does that to other then me. And I think most of the time is is because he is trying to bite my nose.

Since we are going to celebrate both Chaunaka and Christmas with Aiden we have Christmas decorations and Chaunaka decorations all over. We have been lighting the Chaunaka candles every night. Steve was out of town and I lite them too however I didn’t know the prayer and the only prayer I know is the one over the wine so I said that one. Steve assured me that was just fine.

I’M BACK……It has been over 2 months since my last blog and I promise that will not happen again. I plan on keeping it up at least once a week even if all I say is “Hi Everybody”.

What’s new with Aiden - another tooth (he has 4 now), another double ear infection, just finished his thrush meds, getting bigger but still a little peanut. That about sums it up.

What’s new with Steve - well his blog www.teach42.com was just listed as one of the top 5 blogs by Tech Learning magazine for teachers and administrators. You can see the article at www.techlearning.com/story/showArticle.php?articleID=196604794, his birthday is December 5th and he is very excited to be taking a bunch of time off around the holiday’s.

What’s new with me - Loving my job and the people I work with. Still learning which is a little upsetting to me. Things don’t click as fast as they used to before Aiden. Guess I just have too much on my mind now. Everyone says I am doing great though so maybe it is just my own feelings of inadiaquicy that I am burdened by. I’m learing about the perks of working for a large company everyday. We had a book fair yesterday were Barnes & Noble brought in a bunch of books and we could purchase at our convenience throughout the day if we wanted. We also get special discounts with some of our premium providers which is cool too. I have joined the event committee and also am co-leading a group on social networking/marketing and how we can use it in our field of business. It is a great opportunity and I can’t wait to present all our ideas for blogs and social marketing things we have gathered.

A couple weird things about working for a large company. When you have a secret santa party…71 people can participate instead of the 20 I am used to with a smaller company. You don’t know everyone’s names and are not introduced to everyone…nor will you ever be. You might see people everyday but never work with them. This stuff is all new to me. I am used to knowing almost everyone I work with and having parties with everyone and having fun with everyone. I know maybe 1/4 of the people that work at this building and that is being very generous. 900 poeple work here…that is insane to me. The very cool thing about my department is that we are a smaller family unit within a bigger company. That helps with the shock of coming to a company this size. I can definatly see why some people prefer big and some prefer small. Both have a very different feel….I’m not sure which I prefer yet. I will have to keep you updated on that.

I hope everyone is doing well and keep in touch. We are super busy these days but I would love to hear from anyone that is reading.

Over Easter weekend, Carl went a little nuts with the digital camera and took about 500 photos, 200 of which had Aiden in them (I think another 100 were of a pepsi can he liked). I finally got around to organizing them into weekly sets, so you can click here to see them that way.

I’m way behind on the video editing, but this was a pretty exciting video so I rushed one up there. This morning was the first time he rolled over by himself! Pretty cool trick! So of course, I grabbed the camera, got it on tape and uploaded it to YouTube. So you can click here to watch it or click on the thumbnail in the sidebar.

Every day is a new adventure it seems!

Got the new photos uploaded and the albums for Week 6 and Week 7 have been added to the Photo Gallery page. I particularly like the photos of Aiden with Grammy, his great-grandmother. There’s a great photo of him holding her finger!

Well, today was Aiden’s first day at Day Care. Honestly, I think he handled it better than Jess and I! I restrained myself from stopping by the center during lunch time because I didn’t want the other kids to make fun of him. You know, those 12 and 15 month old babies can be brutal with the teasing! But he played well, slept well, ate well and was happy as ever when I picked him up. He’s been smiling up a storm lately, and just lights up the room when he does! There’s no feeling quite like having your baby look up at you and smile.

He’s also starting to ‘talk’ just a little bit. Mostly he just says “Ga” and “Ew”, but that’s alright because I generally talk for both of us.

Everyday a new milestone and a new adventure!

OK so I guess I spoke too soon cause last night Aiden was up every hour to hour and a half. It was horrible and Steve was in St. Louis at a conference. I have to tell you after an hour and 15 minutes of trying everything but a bath, I started crying out of pure frustration. Within 15 minutes, he fell asleep. The same thing happened at 6 when he was crying again and after getting maybe 2 hours of sleep there was no way I was getting up yet. I started crying again and again, he fell asleep within 15 minutes. Moral of the story - start crying quicker so he will go back to sleep faster.

He also for the first time giggled yesterday. He did it again today so hopefully he will start doing it all the time.

For some reason, whenever I try to embed a video from YouTube, I crash the whole darn blog.  Blech.

So here’s just an old fashioned link to the latest video of Aiden.  What’s really cool is that while I couldn’t get video of the c-section, I did record audio so what you hear during that moment of darkness in the beginning of the video, are actually his first cries!

About 15 hours ago, Aiden Lefty Dembo was born! Official time was 8:49 on January 9th, 2007. Despite staying tight for 36 hours of labor and focing a C-Section, he was only 7 pounds! He’s 19″ inches in length, but I think 2 of those inches were because he had a little bit of a conehead.

Mommy and Baby are both doing great. Happy, healthy, and obviously more than a little sleepy. The way things are scheduled right now, we’ll be in the hospital until Friday, and then we’ll take him home and introduce him to his much furrier older brother, Solo.
